Pros
* Large company with lots of opportunity for advancement and career path diversity. Literally offer near every career opportunity from left brain creative to right brain analytical. * Company has a rich history of caring deeply for their employees and has increased their awareness for the communities both local and globally. * Training programs can be amazing. * Hard work, effort, insight and results ARE rewarded.
Cons
* Gap has become incredibly short-term results oriented and while may have strategic long-term goals, at base levels (customer facing) of the organization, priorities can change hourly and seem in direct conflict with stated long term goals. * Training programs are great for HQ employees but next to ZERO hours are committed to those who come in contact with customers daily. * Very high turnover across the organization. If designers/merchants make poor assortment choices, or planners and allocators make poor inventory decisions... it can literally cost a District or Regional Manager their job when sales lag. * The term "knee jerk reaction" originated with this company
