Fun working environment but not for the long term - Anonymous employee Gambado Employee Review

Staff were generally friendly and supportive. The staff running children's parties were largely very positive about their work. Working with children is rewarding (their parents, less so). Shifts were fairly flexible and hours decent. Pay was fine. Initial training was good and positive. The company also hold regular autism friendly evenings and training to support this was helpful and informative.

The company requires both and children and all their accompanying adults to pay entrance which means registration staff spend a great deal of time fielding complaints from visitors about the expense. The line is that adults are allowed to play in the equipment too...but that's no good for an eighty year old grandmother. It's also compulsory for at least one adult to accompany children into the building. If you are thick skinned and can otherwise get behind the company ethos it's not so bad. I was employed as a receptionist but I was also required to dress as a tiger (not good if you're claustrophobic), deep clean equipment and supervise a climbing wall and crafts table. None of these are unreasonable tasks per se but despite being routine requirements were not included in the advert or job description and require very different skills to reception and registration. To say nothing of safety on the climbing wall - with negligible experience myself and only ten minutes training supervising harness fitting felt unsafe. I ultimately refused to do this.
