Pros
If it is your only option to provide for your family, at least you can earn a wage.
Cons
Inducted externally. No relevant training given, was given a laptop to do elearning, then put in the smallest branch with an inexperienced team. In six weeks had recruited a team for my new branch, visited hundreds of garages to set up accounts, and had half an idea what I was doing. No one to ones/ reviews. Went on holiday for my wedding a month after the branch opened to find it was a bit slow to take off and they were looking for someone to blame. I watched my area manager calling in my driver with no probation review meeting and tell him to get lost, and when questioned why he would not do the process fairly I was shot down with more threats. I moved to a cluster store where there was serious h&s issues, where the area manager was based and reguarly signing off the branch as safe, despite there being no health and safety folder in place, notice boards years out of date, first aid kit (what was left of it) was years out of date, trip hazards everywhere, boxes on heaters, flammables under stairs, blocked fire exits, pallets and pallets of unprocessed returns. Funnily enough I handed my notice in instantly, and emailed all the evidence to hr, h&s, etc. Now neither of us work for gsf. Its a long work week 45 hrs add on your break times on that feels like you live in the place.
