Pros

Google benefits, but not for long.

Cons

There are serious challenges within the organization that need to be addressed. Communication and business practices lack consistency, and it appears that central leadership operates in a way that doesn’t encourage diverse perspectives or support individual growth. There’s a big disconnect between the CEO/Executive/Central leadership and the rest of the organization. Regional leadership’s aggressive and tyrannical style raises concerns, particularly regarding how it affects team members from diverse backgrounds. Despite feedback, it seems that HR has not effectively addressed these issues. Taking pride in degrading and berating the team is not effective leadership. (This isn’t unique to this region, it seems to be an element of the company culture.) Additionally, the company frequently alters its performance metrics, which can create confusion and place undue pressure on employees.

Pros

GFiber is a mission-driven company with a product that is easy to stand behind. The work feels meaningful because it directly connects to helping communities, customers, and businesses access better internet. I’ve had the opportunity to work with smart, collaborative people who care about doing great work and supporting each other. The company is also in an exciting stage of growth, which creates opportunities to learn, contribute, and help shape how things are done. There is a strong sense of momentum, and it feels rewarding to be part of a business that is still expanding and evolving.

Cons

Like any growing company, there are times when priorities move quickly and processes continue to evolve. For me, that also creates opportunities to problem-solve, improve how we work, and make an impact.
