Pros

- Great colleagues/fellow drivers - Good pay - Meeting different people ie retail managers/bank managers - Keeping fit/active - Learning something new but then once you know it’s nothing new ? - Regular trip you’re laughing, if not, you’re f’d about ie moved about on trip then this is not a pro.

Cons

- Management - sometimes you’ll be in an area and they’ll be 2 drivers in that area ¿ - If you have a regular trip happy days if not expect early starts and late finishes - Unreliable vehicles, problem with almost every single one of them, there’s some form of defect on every vehicle whether it’s a minor one or major one. Claim to be a multi-million pound organisation but can’t fix a sprinter van. Newer vans were the worst, would break and fail even on low mileage. - Engineers absolutely lazy and useless, systems engineer refuses to leave his van during the winter because it’s cold but part of his contract is working in all weather conditions. Terrible attitude. - If you’re good at your job you will get punished with harder work. - No value for staff, management have a mentality of ‘you’re just a number’ replaceable. - No future prospects within the company other than becoming a pesky annoying manager who constantly interrupts and disrupts drivers who are on their route. Overall I would recommend doing a job like this for about a year, especially if you’re young to build a foundation in your bank account then move on. The world is so much more than just collecting and delivering a bag and while doing that kill yourself with all the weight the job brings, heavy coins and if you’re coloured/not white or just unlucky or a driver who doesn’t have a route, They sugar coat this job into making you believe it’s a great job when in reality you’re nothing more than a fancy delivery driver. If management don’t get what they want they start being weird with you and rude. Very restrictive as to what you know sometimes go into customer premises don’t know limits, customer doesn’t know themselves so you don’t know where you stand if an incident occurs. Look like a moron when setting off fog bandit, no other company would make their employee look like a plonker like that in public with so much money. Company really and truly doesn’t care about the safe transportation of cash and coin as every other Cash in Transit company properly protects assets with technology no matter where you are. Loading up in the morning is extremely difficult sometimes because of made up controlling rules as managers have nothing better to do than bully drivers and abuse their power. I personally got told I was given a route, learnt it and loved it, as you start to do something that’s the same thing over and over again you naturally get quicker at it, management saw this as an opportunity to exploit speed and work ethic when in reality was fulfilling 30-40 calls a day on regular round inevitably got given harder routes some were in Main London, then had to drive back to Harlow so the workload on the phone never made any sense. Petty little things from management as well like defecting a vehicle before you go on holiday so your van is fixed when you come back, didn’t make sense how the managers didn’t like this because really and truly it is their job to make sure vehicles are fixed so you would get your van taken off you and given random vans and they knew this was a nuisance because multi million pound company allegedly couldn’t fix anything and most vans driven into the ground. I personally believe I had to be given a regular round as my commute time from work would be more than 1 hour if shift ended at rush hour. In a job like this you don’t want to have to sit in traffic to go home after a hard days work. Got lied to as when raised this, got told every single person would have to learn more than 1 route but I and management knew this definitely wasn’t the truth and only applied to new drivers and not people working there with years of experience, also when I raised I wasn’t happy being moved around got told ‘was thinking in terms of the needs of the business’ There is favouritism, there is backbiting and it is a bully-like culture just to get the work done. Moral of the story, the cons outweigh the pros in this job, I definitely felt as though I was being stabbed in the back, lied to and used. Didn’t really get much praise apart from a ‘thank you’ and ‘well done’ however this would only come after hearing the words ‘i can use you on this n that’ when being in the office, which didn’t really amount to the workload, hours and energy actually put into the job. If you want to make money and have absolutely no life then go for it. I saw people come, got given the worst of the worst vehicles and given full routes expected to just get on with it then got called into the office for not completing but you’re new to the job. You have to be a very strong individual to start a job like this in this time it is literally blood sweat and tears and cannot express that enough. It will break you apart. More and more banks closing more and more people going cashless wouldn’t be surprised if redundancies were on their way. The end.
