The company is going through a major transition period of significant growth and there's tons of opportunity to learn, but also productionize their systems as they find pro.

The CEO is going absolutely insane with his cost-cutting. As we sign many contracts and go for a new funding round, we're laying people off, but we're also spending $200K/year in cloud spend that could be fixed by buying $20K in servers to stick in one of our on-prem racks. Also, the layoffs are causing critical engineers to get fired and then we're only doing overseas hiring. They're actually not actively terrible, but it's still a very very stressful time to be an American.
