Hard to save money for returning to the US with the stipend amount Decentralized experience between schools- thus it's very hard to predict roles at each school (some ETAs solo teaching every class, some standing in the back and contributing nothing every day) Not a lot of solutions from admin for teachers having trouble with their students and classroom management, which is a fairly predictable problem that comes up every year No language requirement so a lot of ETAs show up knowing nothing about the culture or language, relying on others who do to get around
