Pros

Flexible. Great benefits and fair pay. I have met some incredible leaders that truely care about their crew members safety and health at this company. Company vehicle provided. 2 weeks (paid) holiday shut down for Christmas-New year. Sixth shift bonus for Saturday work.

Cons

Lack of communication among the different divisions. Safety team is not part of project meetings, or subcontractor vetting process. Safety is used more as a reactive resource (post incidents). Expected to be available from 6am-6pm, M-F, or 24hr if on rotation for after hour calls for an entire week.

Pros

I learned a lot from my time at Fred Smith. I was able to work in all different positions in the field and in the office. I learned the role of a project manager or engineer and that of someone who works in the field. I worked with great people. Fred Smith provided necessary training and takes care of their employees. Me and my fellow interns had fun and I would definitely work at Fred Smith again.

Cons

Fred Smith is a big company, so sometimes you may feel not as well-known by the higher ups or those outside of where you work. Working in the field first and then in the office helped me understand that many of the office managers don't know the workers doing the work in the field. Other than that, Fred Smith was a great company to work for during the summer as a college student needing credit and experience.
