Pros
Working to help elect democrats in Florida does feel very rewarding and like you're actually making a difference in these communities (if you win). Also I truly enjoyed working with very capable and hard working people, mostly women, who really make the impossible happen.
Cons
TERRIBLE management. Whoever was actually making the decisions for field had absolutely no clue what they were doing and didn't care at all if they were making our jobs harder, if not impossible. Also, was promised gas cards from day 1 and didn't get them until nearly 3 months in and never was reimbursed for buying office supplies despite putting in multiple expense requests. It is unsurprising that Democrats lose in Florida with how poorly the field team is run. I heard from long-time community members that this is how the state Party has been running campaigns for a long time, at the expense of local knowledge and trust. I learned how not to run a field team from this job and was told I was "unprofessional" and that I needed to "watch my tone" for questioning the effectiveness of various decisions.
