Pros

relationships with students/families very flexible if you have a hectic schedule

Cons

1. Payment/Salary - most of it went to gas (inefficient if students are all separate days/far from each other) 2. Employee Training/Development - on submitting monthly timesheets 3. 1st Meeting Communication with Family - I would advise for the tutor alone to just contact the family about preferred times/days, to prevent any back and forth miscommunication. 4. Sometimes, families can cancel last minute or forget. (need to confirm the day of)

Pros

It’s a really small business, ran by a super nice lady named Lori. I love that I don’t have to answer to a bunch of managers or higher-ups and I like the freedom of being an independent contractor. As long as I show up when I’m scheduled to everything is super chill and I love the kids most of all.

Cons

The only thing I don’t like is having to say goodbye to a student.

Pros

I have worked as a Math and Science tutor for First Class Tutors for seven years and really enjoy it. It is a rewarding part time job with a lot of flexibility. In order to be hired, you have to demonstrate that you have thorough subject knowledge and an ability to teach. I have always been paid on time and would recommend the job. - Flexible schedule - Competitive pay - Relationships with students and family - Rewarding to help students raise their grades and gain confidence. I work a day job in Orange County and Lori (CEO) will always find me students that are close to my work or on my route home so I don't have to do much extra driving.

Cons

Tax filing does cost a bit more since you work as a contractor, but all materials, miles, and vehicle expenses can be deducted. Works well for me since all my students are along my commute from home to my full-time day job.
