Pros

An opportunity to work on technology and problems that are being solved from the ground-up for applications and deployments that are unique, such as wireless networks in high speed transportation, large scale fleet offload and highly reliable wireless backhaul. Small sized focused teams ensure that you get to shoulder a lot of responsibility and get opportunities to work on core areas like distributed routing, switching, 802.11 and the linux kernel. People are helpful, sharp and cheerful. Seniors in the team possess in-depth technical knowledge and contribute on a daily basis. Politics of any kind is completely absent.

Cons

Senior management in US seems to lack a big compelling vision for the company in terms of the product, technology and the direction in which the company should be heading in the long-term future.

Pros

You may get a paycheck until management decides to withhold paying you..

Cons

Firetide is owned by Unicom Global, which is a shell corporation that has bought up many distressed brands over the years (Old IBM legacy software for AS400's, US Robotics, etc.) and uses the revenue stream off these products to fund the owners private real-estate ventures. They reinvest $0 in new products and resources to increase sales and revenue. They hire and maintain those employees who are lazy and passive (think Sheep) that are happy with the status quo so getting anything new done is nearly impossible. The product lines have absolutely no relationship to each other so there is synergies between business units.
