Pros
Provides the best of both worlds, opportunity/freedom to work with who you want, when you want but also a great staff of knowledgeable and experienced collegaues to turn for for collaboration and supervision if needed. The front office and care coordinators are on it! They are great to work with on a personal level, highly organized, motivated, and work well both with management and clinicians. Billing and scheduling feel like they run on automatic which allows me to focus on the people I am seeing. The leadership team bring a wealth of experience, positive work environment, loyalty to both clients and clinicians, and generousity in spirit, time, and support. I personally feel like I have lucked out in landing the ideal post-grad position. I am garnering tons of experience without feeling overwhelmed, have a much higher than average salary than most of my cohort, have multiple opportunities for education/career advancement, and appreciate the abundant resources made available. I have the opportunity to decide where and how I invest clinically, with guidance along each continuning education path. The reputation of the company within the community and schools provides a constant source or referrals that allow me to keep my work flow steady or increase when desired. The team and leaderships consistently demonstrate loyalty and desire to collaborate combined with respectful allowance for personal independence in work flow.
Cons
The mental health industry can be personally taxing and I have watched some new clinicians make the mistake of taking on more than they probably should or feel overwhelmed causing burnout. The office advises new hires to ramp up slowly but does not force anyone's hand so I've watched several clinicians get ambitious in caseload. This causes a higher rate of turnover than I would prefer.
