Pros
I liked working at Firefly Counseling Services PC. The company was in the process of transitioning to a non-profit, Firefly Institute, while I worked there but I moved before it was completed in August of 2019. I really appreciated that Firefly places a high emphasis on ethics and integrity. I found the diversity of modalities offered to be refreshing such as, play therapy, animal assisted human health, emdr, cbt and dbt. I enjoyed working in community and the training opportunities added great depth to my practice. TI had 24 hours of extra PTO annually for training in addition to 160 hours of vacation and 40 hours of sick time (224 total PTO hours). I recently spoke to employees still there and this has not changed. The Care Coordination team really helped me, supporting me and the clients on my caseload. Firefly hires people right out of their master’s programs and supervises them through state board licensure so there is a natural turnover of personnel transitioning to private practice every summer. I did this and it was not a problem, not everyone handles that sort of thing well.
Cons
The transition to a non-profit came with changes, including a lot more oversight. Some of the employees I worked with had real problem with that, but I think they all left, so that shouldn't continue to be a problem.
