Pros
The mission and the people here are second to none! Every day, I can see the positive impact of my work in the lives of real people who are underserved by the broken system in this country. In the 2 years since I started, I have been promoted into management and have been given a TON of opportunities to learn and grow both my skills and my impact. I have a boss and a senior leadership team who respect me and treat me like a truly valued colleague, which is rare in the tech industry, at least in my experience. They have also been incredibly understanding and empathetic when the circumstances are less than ideal.
Cons
Being a small company trying to gain market share and effectively build a market for their product means there are incredibly high expectations, insanely tight deadlines, and not a lot of wiggle room. Everyone has to pull their weight and then some, and there is not a lot of tolerance for just skating by. Sometimes that means long hours and stress, but at the end of the day, when you see the millions of people in need that we are able to connect with services to help them, it’s totally worth it!
