Cons
I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked for FOS when things were good and in order. When everyone knew what they were doing. It's a big shame how things have suddenly turn sour. The most upsetting thing in my opinion is that the change could have still taken place but in a better and smoother way. It is unwise to actually think that there is no need for specialism. How someone without knowledge or training can deal with all types of financial products is beyond me. Someone who's worked on investment or mortgage products for number of years is now expected to deal with the likes of pet insurance, motor insurance complaints and everything and anything else. If it's about saving money as they've said, we could have saved all the money that we supposedly don't have, that was paid to PwC and saved money from having gotten rid of CCD (Consumer Consultants). And eventually when PPI comes to an end, the contractors can be let go. They could even be let them go right now because we have PPI staff sitting there doing bare minimum when PPI contractors are being paid to do the work. I fail to see the logic in that. After having gotten rid of CCD, we could have kept the old structure and then do some sort of rota for the phones and get people within each department to cover the phones. That way everyone continues within their specialist area. (That's my suggestion anyway, not sure how it work in reality but I think it could work). There's no money, but we're opening a new office in Coventry for more PPI contractors. Smh! HR department is non existent. I've never seen a department so out of touch and useless in my entire working life. People get bullied by managers and they turn a blind eye. An HR advisor once told a colleague who raised grievance against his manager "what would you like us to do?" You would expect the HR department to know what to do when a staff contacts to inform that he/she is being bullied. There are people with disabilities and mental health issues being bullied and put on PIPs without managers checking and asking to see if any reasonable adjustments can be made. All they care about is targets. FOS does not care about its staff. It doesn't care about their mental, emotional, financial and personal state. We have people being signed off for stress right left and centre and people dropping off like flies. Then again, I guess that what they want so as to avoid paying redundancy packages. People are being frustrated at work so they'll leave, people are being set up so they'll get in trouble and then find a reason to sack them. Don't even get me started on the ridiculous caller verification. You get in trouble for asking too many questions form a customer, you get into trouble for asking too little information, you get in trouble for not asking the questions in a particular order, not taking into consideration that you and the customer already know you're talking to the right person. Oh, there's also ensuring that you ask the right questions for outgoing and incoming calls. Kmt I don't think the organisation is fit for purpose anymore.
