Unsupportive management/culture- a very high turnover of staff

Tried to get me to do three (6-8hour) trial shifts without pay. I did two and questioned why I was needed for a third and I was dropped! I've heard bad things about the company from LOTS of people since. That includes past employees, past applicants and even other café and restaurant managers and owners outside of Filmore & Union. I was so disappointed with the treatment I received, especially since the job was located in its home town, you'd think they'd have a friendly vibe but instead it was incredibly catty, negative and unwelcoming. There are no scheduled breaks either and therefore, if it gets busy, you won't even see yourself 30 minutes to take your lunch. It has a notoriousoy high turnover rate and staff I met ranged from ignorant to their own damnation and snobbish. Such a shame...
