Pros
Fast paced environment, you can really learn the ropes of the plumbing industry.
Cons
Long Hours Crappy Pay for unbelievably hard work No incentive to really take care of the customer and get them the absolute best product, it doesn't pay as well as hocking Ferguson "private label" merchandise. You become a slave to what they want you to sell. Commission structure sucks - if you have a return or huge appliance sale in one pay period it can bring down your entire average pay percentage wise, so even if you sold things at a high margin, you still make less than one percent commission... you should be paid per item you sell. No understanding of family life - no flexibility in hours Management is poorly trained for their positions, little understanding of HR norms Sexual harassment is the norm...always skirting the line of what's appropriate Good Old boys/Only trainees get promoted Customers are valued only for their $$$, associates are valued even less Management has access to perks and parties that are never open to sales people - you know the people generating your paycheck?? Regularly was encouraged to skip lunch to help walk in customers unrealistic expectations of what you can accomplish in one day zero administrative support from client services - poorly trained support staff = little accountability, constant passing of the buck back to sales staff I could go on...and on
