Pros

-Extremely easy work...I sit at a desk for hours a day doing absolutely nothing -VERY good pay for college part time ($12.00) -You'll most likely have an opportunity for full time employment somewhere in the region because of high turnover rates

Cons

-As a female I have been harassed multiple times. It may just be the industry, but I feel I am the only woman these men see all day when they're on the job and forget how to act with decency. -Extremely boring work. There's nothing to do most of the time so I sit around clicking and hope my boss doesn't catch me doing nothing and make me clean the dust off of an assortment of products that have been sitting on the shelf for YEARS -No culture. It's putting away inventory and answering phones and occasionally some deliveries. You can form relationships with customers, but don't expect to meet anyone you can go to happy hour with after hours. -STINGY. We receive multiple reminders to turn down the heat in the stores to reduce costs. As part-time I get the same Christmas bonus as full-time employees, which is a box of junk food. Apparently in corporate they don't even have free coffee for employees! -There's always something to improve on. Charge the customer for EVERYTHING. These items are high priced as it is, I feel bad adding on asinine shipping costs to a customers order.

Pros

I like my coworkers and my GM is a good .

Cons

The business model and lean staffing is simply unsustainable. Entry level pay, part time, little training, no commissions. Fastenal is focused on the sale rather than the customer. The wing it mentatility leaves customer service lacking. It's a roll coaster of putting one fire out after the other. They sale the position during the interview process but after your in there's empty promises with no real timelines for when the advancement is coming. Upper management seems out of touch with the day to day business. If you ask for help they simply say you have a good schedule. It's extremely disappointing that it has turned out this way because I was excited about the prospect of becoming an Account manager.
