Pros

Unfortunately, there are not many good reasons to work at family dollar. In all honesty, there are only 2 good reasons. One would be job security. Family dollar has extremely low standards. If you open your store on time, stay under in payroll, and don't steal, your job is pretty secure. They may write you up or lecture you, but that is about it. Other than that you have to beg them to fire you. The other good reason to work there is that provided you can tolerate the working conditions long enough, you can advance through the comopany

Cons

long hours small staff means you have to do everything yourself poor assistant manager training and development poor pay for assistants leads to pathetic hiring pool sweat shop-like work conditions leads to constant turnover of hourly employees

Pros

Hire and train new applicants in as Assistant Managers instead of Customer Service Representatives....that way everyone is to move freely around the store ...Trained individuals with authorization to implement all tasks required...

Cons

Lazy ASM get all of the hours but aren't effectively utilizing labor hours....putting all the stress on CSRs....whereas most our time is spent stuck behind the counter waiting for ASSISTANCE FROM MANAGERS ....for voids... loadable cards etc....time consuming acts that result in long lines and agitated customers

Pros

Building relationships with customers and a few co workers, Work is pretty simple.

Cons

The most unethical company I have ever had the displeasure of working for. The manager has created a culture of gossip, drama, and favoritism. They have left non key carrying day one employees in the building by themselves to go to the gym. If you are not the favorite key carrier you will find yourself working 8 or 9 hour shifts by yourself, which means no break, no lunch, and you better have a good bladder. Also allows non employees to work tasks, such as unloading trucks, switching helium tanks, and threatening employees. Nothing was addressed by upper management.
