Pros
Smart people, interesting work, good benefits. Although some teams were allowed to work from home almost constantly, this was not available to all so it's not really a pro.
Cons
I had the worst manager of my entire career at this position. He was promoted to manager three weeks after I started there after he threw a temper tantrum (seriously). He managed his team through temper tantrums and rage attacks. He never had meetings with any of his team, preferring to send out scathing little email bombs when he was angry about something, but never giving warning that he was getting upset about something until then. Promotions happened not because you demonstrated you could handle more responsibility but because you were buddies with the manager. Constant inconsistency was the rule.
