Pros
The pay and benefits are very good. In some business units there is a good deal of flexibility about work location and flexible work options such as work from home which fosters improved work life balance. Because Exelon is a large and diverse company there are good opportunities for career growth. Working for such a large and nationally recognized company provides a certain degree of job and financial stability that you can’t get from a smaller company or a startup. There is a strong emphasis on innovation throughout the company while at the same time remaining a stable and secure energy producing and providing company that continues to expand in the Energy market.
Cons
In lieu of in place promotions, one has to apply for a job opening to be promoted. This isn't all bad though because this promotes diversification of one's career and broadens you exposure and experience. While there is a high degree of focus on innovation and creativity, being such a large, diverse, well tenured company, change doesn't always happen quickly. If you are looking for a startup feel, fast paced, quickly changing, rapidly evolving company, Exelon may not be the best fit for you; however, those who demonstrate creativity and devise innovative solutions are recognized and appreciated.
