Toxic Work Environment - Anonymous employee Excelsior University Employee Review

Pros

If you're going to work in higher education, they seem to pay better than other institutions and if you can stomach it long enough, you can get your degree for free and then leave them for something better.

Cons

The environment is extremely toxic. Workers are constantly abused and neglected with no advocates. HR does not help employees at all, no matter how bad the situation. They will offer investigations into things, but advise you that an investigation could make things worse, basically trying to talk you out of it. No matter how long you've been with the company, they will not care about you. Managers bully and mistreat employees, but continue to work there while good employee complain to no avail and leave. I would never recommend this employer.

Pros

There is a good work / life balance. Did not feel overly stressed and micromanaged because of my colleagues.

Cons

Where to start. From the moment of getting hired, it was very obvious to me this was a corporation pretending to be a caring higher ed university. Every decision they made is entirely for profit and to cut as many corners as possible. HR was fully onboard with allowing a toxic work environment to continue all because everyone at this company is a yes man going all the way up to the top, They are totally willing to sacrifice student learning and experience all for the next dollar. Genuinely one of the most poorly run companies I have ever seen full of toxicity from the ground up. Do not fall for it - this "university" does not care about you in the slightest!!
