Pros
Before joining Evolution, I had zero experience with logistics in any shape or form. I spoke with Ian, who was a great recruiter, and his advice was something that remains with me. The interview felt like more of a casual conversation which was refreshing. Upon meeting the Managing Director it was refreshing to have some honest and open conversations about the structure, company culture and where they want to be in 5 years. I think our values aligned and that was the main reason I wanted to join the company. As an Introverted person, the WFH work/life balance is great, I spend 1 day a week in the office in Manchester and I find that this is probably the happiest I've been in my working life so far, before I'd be drained and tired for the weekends from the office work, however now I've got a tonne of energy to focus on my hobbies and other passions which has been a significant change to my life. The first year was particularly quite difficult, especially since being young you want to make an impact, and getting to grips with the services the company provides, the logistics terminology and just general industry updates were quite challenging. However, if you put the time and effort in, and ask the people around you for support you will develop quite quickly and learn a lot. At my previous job, it was quite difficult to talk about salary and benefits, however with the MD, it's been nice to have some clear conversations about what I can do to reach where I want to be. The support in that aspect has been fantastic.
Cons
Personally, for me it's just the travel time to the office, it takes a while to get there due to the freight terminal having poor transport links,
