Pros

If you had the right Manager (which I did) you were trusted to get your work done without any micromanagement, and could work at home during bad weather or if you needed a place to work in quiet, outside the noisy cube farm. Benefits are very good.

Cons

This place is S L O W. People are promoted for having been there for 35 years and going with the flow. We were all told that success is 15% what you know and how you do your job, and 85% attitude. Who would disagree that a positive, can-do attitude is important, but this proclamation was made solely so the sluggish yes man seat warmers with decades of service could continue to get good reviews, while the rest of us did the work. As the old joke goes: How many people work at NU? (former name of Eversource was Northeast Utilities) Answer: About half of them. A clear overstatement. If you are smart, stay away as you will get dumbed down, and lose your marketable skills. For example, they actually defend using Lotus Notes! Some of us were BORN after that old clunky email program was developed. Projects are started and routinely never finished. Approved budgets evaporate, and vendors are routinely called off assignments at the last minute. If you didn't come from NSTAR you aren't golden. But the Chief Customer Officer travels to conference after conference across the country while we buy our own supplies at Staples. Work here as a last resort if you have no other way to pay your mortgage and feed your kids!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you’ve experienced strong support from your team — that’s something we value highly. We understand that some roles, especially early on, can feel repetitive as employees build foundational knowledge. Many teams offer opportunities to take on additional projects or expand responsibilities over time, and we encourage employees to speak with their managers about ways to diversify their experience and grow. We appreciate your insights and your contributions to Eversource.

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Normal vacation. Interesting job, meaning it’ll keep you mind sharp.

Cons

There are no goals or expectations set that allows you to prove you’re ready for growth. The only way to advance your career is to be one of the cool guys OR work 16 hours a day and weekends. Bonuses and merit increase is the same across the board no matter how much extra you do. The work force is too small for customer/management and the expectations are set too high. There are not enough vehicles for the work force and often times trainees have no way of getting to the job site. We would run out of stock items (cable, wire, connections, transformer, safety gear) that are necessary to keep the power on. Our best coworkers have left for biggest competitor…me too.
