Pros

- There were / are some good people that work here.

Cons

- The owner. While he's been in business 40 years, Evergreen literally has had 1000s (over 300 during my 2+ years there) of employees leave on a constant basis. Sure some were let go but many quit abruptly over horrid conditions at the company. - Salaried employees were scrutinized if they didn't put in similar hours that The owner did. I was literally asked on a Friday evening, "What am I paying you for?" when I left at 5 after putting in 50 hours that week (that was trip #1 to HR.) - The owner spends significant hours going over security tape in a very odd fashion. Meaning most would if there was a discrepancy. He went over them without having a reason. - Micro managed over every aspect. - Lies are told about bonus' constantly. - I was asked about a 3 block "discrepancy" over what was "A routine 5 mile away sales call." I explained I missed a turn and was met with skepticism. I knew the writing was on the wall. - The person I replaced was all rosy on the phone when I asked them about working at Evergreen. When our time overlapped by a week, they couldn't get out of there fast enough. Instead of training, I was provided with reasons why I would hate working there. When I asked why they didn't tell me this prior, I was apologized to say they had to do what they had to do to leave. - Owner lacks respect for employees. One time I was in the HR office talking about things there and the owner walked into the closed door office to "get a file." The HR person said her door was closed and the reply was, "I needed to get something." He then proceeded to hang outside the door that he didn't shut all the way. - The owner would go into tirades and not understand why some deals wouldn't close. Sometimes we knew, others not. He seemed to not understand if we were told it was over price or if there was an agreement in place that they could not break. Funny that he always wanted to go around agreements to get business but when someone tried to do that he threatened legal action. - The annual holiday parties were reminiscent of something out of, "The Office" where he would give out "nice gifts" that were freebie promo swag from distributors that he would hoard all year. - Vacation days wouldn't accrue and you had to wait a year. The owner didn't/ doesn't believe in sick pay. Bereavement was for spouse or child only. One employee was distraught after her grandmother died (she raised her after her parents both passed in an accident when she was young.) The owner had HR tell her that she had to use her remaining vacation days and would be docked for time missed over the 2 days. The service was cross country. Employees offered vacation days to help her and we were told it was "illegal" (it's not in WA state.) She took 4 days and received a "performance warning." - Horrid relationships with many businesses & workers in the community. I kept a file on how many businesses would not work with Evergreen (either past experiences or the new person in charge came from somewhere that didn't care for Evergreen. It was shocking how many people went out of their way to tell me why they wouldn't even entertain talking with me because of who I worked for. - One of the final straws came when I had a chance to land a massive account and the company outsourced vending & facilities. The person in charge accepted my meeting (had been meeting with the company for weeks before they outsourced) and told me because The owner had reneged on his commission while an employee with Evergreen and went out of his way to badmouth him in the field, he would "Never work with Evergreen in any fashion, in spite of what was offered." He also added other opinions and words I can't add here. - I had a recruiter friend test Evergreen because of hearing the badmouthing rumors that The owner would do to former employees. It was almost comical the lies that were relayed to me. - Why did I work there so long? I kept a low profile and worked outside of the office as much as possible.

Pros

You get paid, there's food, most employees not in high up positions are decent humans that actually care about their fellow people

Cons

Micromanaging to the extreme. High up people that have no idea what it is like to actually work under them, and boy will they make sure you KNOW you're under them. High ups that talk crap about others, degrading others to their face, just all around junk people. (There are a couple high up that are actually decent and they just take the abuse). Expected to do 47742 jobs in 3 days or get ridiculed. Have to let them know every single move you make while they just sit and have no idea what this job entails. Want you to do out of code work and just be OK with it. Try to make you sign paperwork that's illegal (it's a federally protected right to talk about wages, and no document can or will supercede this). You'll sign a contract saying what you do and don't get but it'll just change on a whim and hope you don't say anything
