Pros

Good place to work in general if you can get a good team around you. 90% of customers are nice & friendly. Not micro-managed and able to run a branch how you see fit within guidelines set by the business in order to achieve operational excellence.

Cons

Senior management disconnected from the branch network with no real idea what happens on the shop floor or how (in general) a branch is run. 3 members of staff is simply not enough to run a branch in the most efficient manner in order to achieve the sky high targets plucked out of thin air set by management, so achieving bonus feels completely out of reach, lowering morale of branch staff. Most days you don't get a break due to lack of staff within branches, if you've got a busy counter, expect to stand serving customers whilst eating your lunch. Due to restructure within the branch network, branch managers are now without support that was previously provided via a ROM and now have to look to their peers in other branches for help cover, which as most branches only have 3 members of staff is simply unacceptable. Most members of staff within branches seldom stay longer than 1 year, this is due low pay (minimum wage), where they can get higher pay for being a delivery driver for Tesco or similar with more added benefits. Branch managers wages are below the average of what a branch managers salary should be in this industry, I happen to know a direct competitor of Eurocell offering branch managers ~£35+ as I got head-hunted and that was the figure offered to me, which I politely declined as, even though I have my critisms working for Eurocell (after 10 years I'm going to), in general it's a good place to work. If you run a branch very efficiently and hit targets you are never recognised for it, but if you happen to miss a couple of targets be sure you'll be pulled through the ringer for it with no support offered. Mental health is a big thing for me, I see a lot of other branch managers currently feeling very low due to the current situation within Eurocell, 7/8 years ago it was all about the people, senior management would always be there to help or support and able to answer any questions or queries you may have and seemed to genuinely care about the people that worked within their branches. If I'm honest, it feels now as though it's all about the shareholders and driving profits. Which obviously all companies need to do to drive growth, I understand that, it's just now you feel as though you're only a number and not an individual doing their best to run a branch to achieve high turnover and profits for the company.

Pros

None. Absolutely awful. Stay away!

Cons

Unfortunately, my experience at Eurocell has been overwhelmingly negative. The business is reactive rather than strategic, with a clear lack of leadership, direction, and long-term vision. Following significant leadership changes, there appears to be considerable uncertainty around priorities and decision-making, resulting in confusion, inconsistency, and a lack of accountability across many areas. Collaboration between departments is virtually non-existent, with teams operating in silos and often working against, rather than alongside, one another. Instead of addressing root causes, the culture seems focused on constant firefighting and short-term fixes. Even straightforward tasks can become frustratingly complex, creating unnecessary pressure and stress for employees. Staff turnover is alarmingly high, particularly within manufacturing and branch operations. People leave on a regular basis, yet little appears to be done to understand or address the reasons behind their departures. Vacancies are simply refilled, and the same issues persist. It feels like a revolving door, with experienced employees leaving and new starters quickly becoming disillusioned. Employee morale is among the lowest I have witnessed. Many colleagues feel undervalued, unheard, and disconnected from the wider business. Development opportunities are inconsistent. The atmosphere is negative, with people focused on getting through the day rather than feeling motivated or engaged. The wider working environment does little to help. Facilities are basic, broken loos, no canteen, and there are few opportunities to build relationships across teams. What makes this particularly disappointing is that two or three years ago there appeared to be a genuine effort to improve the organisation. New leaders brought fresh ideas, stronger communication, and a focus on culture and employee engagement. For a short period, there was a sense of optimism and momentum. Unfortunately, much of that progress has been reversed. Many of the individuals who drove positive change have since left, and little evidence remains that their vision or initiatives have been sustained. Unless significant changes are made to leadership, culture, communication, and employee retention, I struggle to see how the business will stay running. This is an old sinking ship! Stay away!
