Pros
I've been a Project Manager at Epic for two years and I find it to be the most interesting, fulfilling position between my three jobs I've held after college. I can't say enough about the people at Epic that you will work with - bright, motivated, fun people with an array of backgrounds and life experiences. Also, as someone who wanted to work on the medical field, I find that I am able to do so and work right alongside physicians and nurses at some of the top healthcare organizations in the country to improve the way they deliver healthcare. I all appreciate being able to jump in and do this really in my career, and I'm well - compensated and do not have to wait for 8 more years of school and the accompanying bills in order to make a difference (as I would have if I went the med school route). I'm constantly learning new things as my role evolves, which means I'm never bored and things don't get monotonous.
Cons
The position can be stressful at times because you are working in healthcare, which is a round- the-clock high stakes industry, so I'd you're someone who thrives in that type of environment it's great, but it's certainly not for everyone. You also have to actively manage your work- life balance or it's easy for work to consume you. If you have a strong manager (team lead), this is easier to do - I am fortunate to have excellent support from my manager.
