Pros
SD salary is great, especially for the area. If your direct manager is good, you have a good amount of freedom. Not everything you do directly impacts care, but plenty of projects are beneficial for both providers and patients.
Cons
The decisions that management makes aren't very transparent. This includes things such as salary and Epic's middling COVID response. The experience is *very* dependant on your direct manager. If they're bad, it can be difficult to keep going. There's lots of pressure to work late hours. Like most things, this depends a lot on your direct manager. Management seems to be terrified of employees having collective power and punishes those who try. See Lewis v Epic. This isn't rare, but it's still a con. Epic's COVID response hasn't been terrible, but it could use work. The reasons for every step we take are obfuscated, and all we're told is that Epic is using data somehow.
