Pros
I love having the opportunity to do work that can make a difference at a very large scale. The people at the lab where I work are extremely supportive and collegial.
Cons
I am on a contract with no job security and no benefits. The agency has a practice of filling labor gaps with post-docs and contractors. It is extremely inefficient for long-term research that requires continuity.
