Pros
I’ve gained a ton of experience here and genuinely love the campaigns I work on. I’ve passed incredibly impactful policies that have advanced critical environmental and public health issues across the country. Great people. Honestly some of the smartest and passionate people I’ve interacted with. Lots of growth opportunities.
Cons
The pay is incredibly low. Many senior level managers had very dogmatic approaches to organizational values- its either you’re with them or it’s “maybe you’re not a good fit and you shouldn’t work here anymore”. There is no negotiation or flexibility on pay. The organization shows value to staff through “providing good training and experience to staff”. That value proves most valuable when staff eventually leave and go to work for another org because of low pay or value differences. Though there are many staff who have been around a long time, the organization is chronically understaffed.
