Because the work has low pay and high hours there is significant staff turnover. Because there is significant staff turnover, many offices are understaffed. Understaffed offices means that a fellow will often be being supervised by someone 1000 miles away. For those for whom this is their first job out of college, this lack of close support means being thrown into the deep end without sufficient guidance.
