Pros

I was in the Entrata development department before the re-branding of the company name from Property Solutions to the accounting product's name, Entrata. And I got to work on the super popular student product and the beginnings of the affordable product. My future is brighter after working at Entrata; I learned a ton. Even saying I learned a ton I feel is an understatement. I learned how to code better after seeing a code base that's a result from hundreds of good PHP developers' streamlining efforts. I strengthened my ability to write SQL as well, because the ORM code used is minimal in design so coding has to be very explicit which forces one to get stronger in the fundamentals of database and scripting languages. It was easy to trace why something happened for the most part. So I didn't experience the nightmare of working with super sloppy code. I would rate the code base as at least top 20% of all PHP code from other companies. The code could still be better, but in comparison to all of Github or other places I've been, the code is fairly clean. I got to go to India to work with the Indians at our sister company, Xento. I got to go to Utah and work with Utahns. I got to work with some really smart and hard working people on both sides of the oceans. And I made friends all over. I can confidently say the time I was with the company, it was clearly a life long positive impact. The company itself is special, or it has a special place in my heart. It's one or the other.

Cons

I am disappointed I wasn't strong enough personally to overcome the obstacles I encountered while working at Entrata, and I left as a result. It's a special place to work, and you need special kinds of people that can thrive in such an environment. I know that the experience varies widely from employee to employee. It's evident in the reviews. Some people will give the company excellent reviews, while others are horrible. I can only deduce from this that it's either due to different mini cultures in each department, and people literally are experiencing very different things. Or probably more accurate, it's maybe more due to how an employee reacts to the situation they are in. In layman's phrasing, "It is what you make of it." Some people get a lot out of the experience of working at Entrata, like me, while others don't gain anything from their experience. So it's highly dependent on the person.

Pros

I have a pretty good group of team members. My mid-level supervisor is also easy to work with and supportive.

Cons

Entrata does not care about their employees, or even their products/services. This is made clear by insane workloads, exhausting meetings with escalated clients, and a “standard” 3% (if you are exceeding expectations and lucky) raise. I do moderately technical work that requires a decent amount of experience, as well as a client facing and internal leadership role, and I don’t make what is considered a “living wage” in Utah, even after years of working here. Execs seem to be having a great time partying at Summit with the most expensive celebrities they can book (Seinfeld, James Cordon, Tom Brady, Weezer…) but absolutely do not care about the uninvited staff who are working to support their client retention and their low-bar concept of product integrity.
