Pros
Great location in the Mile End & near métro Rosemont. We have lots of bars/ restaurants to go to for lunch or after work. Great team & laid-back atmosphere at work. No dress code, beer o clock on Fridays, nerf gun fights in the office, we also do the plank all together at 3 PM while listening to cheesy songs... We try to have fun! The product team is also given a lot of flexibility and a lot of autonomy. We have room to learn and experiment. We work in agile (alternating between scrum & scrumban depending on the projects) and use the latest technologies. From my experience you are also given the opportunity to get more and more responsibility if you show initiatives. In less than a year I can safely say that I was given twice as much opportunities to learn than in my past job in 2 years!
Cons
The company is spread out in various locations and has a lot of different divisions/products/projects/services, which makes it hard to understand what our company is really about and what everyone is doing. Since the company is public, all the financial decisions take a lot of time to be approved. Everything needs to be budgeted and it creates a lot of delays. The tech team is overwhelmed with work. There is too much to do for too little people, which makes it hard to take the time to sit down, reflect, get/give feedback and improve. I do believe we are going to the right direction though, since we operate much less in a reactive mode than before and have gotten a lot better in planification.
