Pros

This role was in a remote setting

Cons

I typically do not leave negative reviews because I understand every workplace experience is different. However, after my experience with this company, I feel it is important to provide honest feedback so others can make a more informed decision before accepting a position here. The biggest issue within this organization is the culture and management style. The environment is extremely micromanaged and heavily metrics-driven to a level that became mentally exhausting. Management constantly monitored emails, LinkedIn messages, activity, and communication throughout the day. There was little trust or autonomy given to employees, regardless of performance. Communication from leadership often felt excessive and overwhelming, including repeated calls and constant pressure to work beyond normal hours. There was very little flexibility or understanding regarding personal matters or time off, which created a stressful and unsustainable work environment. The hiring process also lacked transparency in several areas. Compensation discussions felt misleading at times, especially regarding commission structure and workload distribution. Certain expectations and realities of the role were not clearly communicated upfront. While some individuals within the company were kind and supportive, the overall structure, management approach, and day-to-day culture outweighed those positives for me personally. I have never experienced this level of stress or dissatisfaction in a role before, and I was already preparing to resign because it had become so mentally draining. If you thrive in highly controlled, high-pressure, micromanaged environments, this may be a fit for you. However, for professionals seeking trust, flexibility, collaboration, and healthy work-life balance, I would strongly encourage asking detailed questions before accepting an offer.

Empowered Staffing Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not feel like the right fit. Empowered Staffing is an agency recruiting firm, and agency recruiting is a very specific type of environment. It requires daily sourcing, outreach, follow-up, communication, activity tracking, responsiveness, accountability, and the ability to handle a fast-moving workload. That structure is not meant to be punitive; it is part of how agency recruiting works and how we create results for our clients, candidates, and team. We make a strong effort throughout the interview and offer process to communicate role expectations, compensation structure, commission details, workload, performance metrics, and the realities of agency recruiting. Our goal is for every candidate to understand the expectations and environment before accepting an offer, and we will continue looking for ways to make that communication even clearer. We also understand that this style of work is not for everyone, especially for professionals who may be used to a more corporate recruiting structure with a different pace, different expectations and rely strictly on a big brand behind them and job posting applicants coming through versus active sourcing. A mismatch between the role, the pace, and the environment does not mean either side is wrong, but it does mean the fit may not be right. We believe strongly in professionalism, constructive communication, accountability, and bringing a positive, solutions-oriented attitude to the team. We also want employees to feel supported, recognized, and respected, and we will continue working to improve communication, clarity, support, and recognition while maintaining the standards required in a high-performance agency recruiting environment. We appreciate the feedback and wish this individual success in finding an environment that better aligns with their preferred working style.

Pros

I spent seven years with the company and had the opportunity to grow from a relatively junior recruiter into a senior team member who interviewed, mentored, and trained new hires. Throughout my time there, I always felt that my voice was heard. Leadership was receptive to feedback and genuinely encouraged employees to identify opportunities for improvement, create new processes, and help shape how the business operated. One of the biggest highlights was the level of ownership and responsibility given to employees. I had the opportunity to work directly with highly regarded clients, build meaningful relationships, and make an impact well beyond my job title. There was also excellent visibility to ownership, making it easy to share ideas, ask questions, and understand the direction of the business. The compensation structure was competitive and highly motivating, rewarding hard work and strong performance. For someone looking to grow professionally, take on meaningful responsibility, and be recognized for their contributions, this was an excellent place to build a career.

Cons

It's honestly difficult to identify significant downsides after spending seven years with the company. The biggest consideration is that this isn't a traditional 9-to-5 role. As with most agency environments, there will occasionally be early mornings or late evenings depending on client needs and time zones. If you're looking for a position with very rigid, predictable hours, this may not be the best fit. That said, the flexibility goes both ways. Success in this role requires adaptability, initiative, and a strong work ethic, but the company rewards those qualities. In my experience, you truly get out of the role what you put into it. For those willing to put in the effort, there are significant opportunities for career growth, professional fulfillment, and strong compensation.

Pros

Being a 20 year veteran in several roles within the recruiting industry from being overworked with high pressure overwhelming demands to working in a high drama atmosphere and feeling unappreciated I sensed in no time l that I've found a home with Empowered Staffing and have been with them in some capacity since 2018. Management and longtime co workers give me a sense of a "family" environment. After two year at the firm as a sourcer / research associate Sarah recognized my talents and offered me a role as recruiter which was quite lucrative especially during the COVID lockdown where we we required by the State to work remotely. When we were in office this was a job I looked forward to going into office for every day. I've never worked for kinder or more understanding people and I've been given more flexibility than I have ever been offered in the past. I really don't need a lot of freedom since I enjoy working but its nice to know that its there when I need it. Dinners and after work get togethers are a really nice bonus. Daniel and Sarah are both very smart at running the business and really fun at the same time.

Cons

Other than some lull between contracts I honestly can't think of anything.
