Pros

-Salaries are more or less competitive (although good luck getting a raise).

Cons

Sales org: -Nepotism. E.g. A certain individual ( within sales leadership) hired an old friend and issued him a salary higher than their direct manager's + prevented him from getting fired when they are about to be. No comment. -Sales leadership is a tight group of middle aged men who look out for each other instead of focusing on the wellbeing of their teams. There is a lot of finger pointing with most of it being towards their direct reports. Getting motivated and inspired are not things you will ever receive here. -Despite proclaiming itself to be a technology company, the nowadays must-practice concepts of mindfulness and team building are non-existing. -High and unrealistic sales targets. Other orgs: -Overall high turnover, talent is unappreciated and constantly leaving. -Product releases are rushed and cause constant issues. -Good chunk of people are simply counting months until their stock options fully vest. -People team let confidential information spread, watch out. -No effective channel for company staff to anonymously review their management.

Pros

I had a great time on an (extended) three-month contract with Emesent. They are a global leader in their field of 3D imaging and autonomous navigation, and have a host of PhDs and talented tech folk working there. As an experienced contractor, I've seen the inside of plenty of businesses, and Emesent is a stand out for the positive, supportive high-performing culture. They employ an array of technologists from robotics and mechanics, to software and beyond. I love that they can offer local tertiary graduates a start in the professions that will only grow in importance to the wider economy. I would encourage anyone to seek a role there, if you think you can match their standards and culture. Great culture starts at the top, and I'm impressed by Emesent's engaging and passionate exec and management teams. They've hired the right people who model respectful, inclusive, productive behavior with their teams, and strongly support career development.

Cons

There's much change happening at Emesent, as they adjust the company's direction and the teams they need. So while there seems to be much room for career development in a successful, growing company, and I saw many examples of role progression at Emesent, they seem to have fairly brisk staff turn-over, and many new employees working hard to get up to speed on the complex products and market. So lots of opportunities to develop new skills and experience (and work in a fab team environment), but not the strongest record of job stability.
