Pros
Working for Elon, you truly feel a strong sense of community across campus. Expect to work with other departments on a regular basis, so this helps a lot. The university is almost obsessed with doing things perfectly, but this means your job is valued, and the people you are surrounded by truly, genuinely care about their day-to-day work.
Cons
Not the best location for a young, single person (but nearby Greensboro & Durham/Chapel Hill are great). Largest concern is the presence of those who "drank the kool aid", and live and breath the university. These are the individuals around you who won't understand a true work/life balance. There are not always concrete actions to be seen for this, but more so the social climate for staff members on campus. This is certainly not every area on campus, but something to be aware of. Other than this, don't expect a great HR/development presence on campus. Each office/department is overly compartmentalized, so employee development can be lacking in some offices.
