Pros
Nice office space conveniently located in downtown Raleigh, flexibility with work-from-home and PTO schedules, some decent benefit options, and excellent camaraderie amongst the sales floor.
Cons
Egnyte is a revolving door; since I joined in 2019, the AEs in Raleigh have almost completely churned, we've had two CFOs, a sales director position held by three different individuals, and a CRO who only lasted 6 months, just to give a couple examples of the turnover. The company struggles to generate new business and acquire new logos, and furthermore, has no plan or vision on how to go about generating net new MRR. So, as an incoming AE, understand that your day in and day out will be more in line with the responsibilities of a SDR where metrics are all that matters and call quantity (over quality) will be monitored and addressed daily. Since there was such little business to go around during my tenure, only 1 or 2 individuals would hit quota each quarter. There was also a laughably short ramp period for new AEs, so if you're coming onboard, plan your personal budget with the expectation that you'll be living off base pay for the foreseeable future. Egnyte has been in cultural decline well before the craziness of 2020 ensued, and the events of the past year have only exacerbated the issue. Ultimately, I wouldn't tell people to necessarily run from this company, but just fully understand what you're getting into before applying or accepting a position as an AE. If you're going into sales because you like building relationships with clients, demonstrating value, and actually selling, then I'd argue Egnyte is not for you in its current state.
