Cons
Having a friend who started with Jones 6 mnths prior to myself along with talking to several advisors in my home town I thought I was as prepared as anyone could be entering a career with Jones. I was wrong. The toll that this job takes on you emotionally is something that no one can prepare you for, not to mention the low pay. One thing I was EXTREMELY unhappy with was the fact when you return from Eval/Grad, the second round of training, all of these things start popping up that no one ever bothered to tell you. Example being the pay structure goes from twice a month to ONCE a month. This is fine, but to not be informed of it is unacceptable to me. The only way I found out was when I was looking at the pay schedule on JonesLink. I then called home office and the woman actually laughed at me and said yeah that sucks. Real Nice!!!! They also don't want you selling anything expect stocks, bonds, and mutual funds when you are first starting. I lost several large account prospects early to other firms who offered them annuities, which I could have offered, but had no selling knowledge on the different complexities of selling annuities.
