Pros
It is true that over the past few years, a lot of the processes within the business have required improvement and it has been frustrating at times. However following the recent acquisition by the Parent Pay group, ESS is a very different company to work for. The business no longer feels constrained and the levels of investment and understanding of what the business needs to succeed far exceed anything I have experienced in the past. A huge focus is being put on delighting customers with new and enhanced product offerings, but more importantly for this review, from an employee perspective, by approaching this in the right way, with industry best practice and having the right tools to do the job. Being afforded the time and autonomy to make decisions (and mistakes) to ensure a quality product built upon solid foundations, is something I have found to be rare. As an IT professional there are many opportunities for me to grow, learn from industry leaders and grow my skills and career. I am genuinely excited about what the next few years hold for me at ESS.
Cons
The new investment and management cannot change everything overnight. There are still some inefficiencies in communication between departments and still legacy systems and processes that are challenging to work with.
