A well-run and ethical company - Senior Ecologist Ecology by Design Employee Review

Having kissed a few workplace 'frogs' I can truly say working for a small or medium business is so much more rewarding, and I love working here! It's an interesting place to work, where we are all given a lot of trust (not to be underrated) and I am surrounded by great people who are incredibly good at what they do, and best of all, they are very happy to share that knowledge with one another. Their dedication to continuous personal development and enthusiasm for what they do is great to be a part of. The Business is very well supported by a strong Operations team so the Ecologists can spend time doing what they are best at. There is also a very strong Wellbeing agenda within the business with Mental Health support and awareness at the forefront. As a team we regularly take time together to have fun and a break from the busy day to day, this is anything from a foraging experience to a brush party, a fancy dress sports day to a botany walk and everything else in between (including hopefully climbing a mountain for charity this year!!). I have been fortunate to develop my career here over the past 5 years, using my knowledge gained in both Corporate and start up environments, but i've found my Goldilocks 'just the right size' at Ecology by Design. Overall it's a great place to work, and i'm not just saying that - truly!

Seasonality of Ecology means that it is very busy April-Sept but as a business we do a lot to manage that and ensure that the business has become a lot less seasonal.

There are many pros working for this company. We have generous annual leave and an unlimited training budget which helps the team to build on their knowledge to enable them to fulfil their job roles and further their knowledge. Whilst keeping professional, the company has a great family feel to it and being a small business, management really take care of the team. We promote Mental Health awareness and stay up to date with current guidance and resources to help the team should they need it. This is especially important as we are a diverse team.
