Cons
The worst team of leaders I have ever worked with and for in my career. They all talked about each other, and threw one another under the bus but would be phony with each other in person. One manager was reported for hostile workplace and abusive behavior but still retained their job. I was yelled at 3 times by one supervisor, reported to HR, management and HR did nothing with it. My reporting manager would speak to other management of onboarding me and helping me but their actions reflected sabotage and little direction. Leadership team had poor communication, favoritism, and unclear guidelines. I went through 5 managers in less than a year. Upper management was revealed to only care about what was perceived by client to retain their account; the "ethos" of the job did not match the client, and client was left unaware. Upper management put unrealistic expectations on on-site management to complete within a given amount of time per week, and feigned ignorance to poor business practices. Was told on a zoom call "You know what you signed up for; this job comes first, your family comes second, I need you to run this facility." Remaining management was working anywhere between 70 to, I kid you not, 90 hours per week for one of them. Management absorbed several other positions, and at one point, there were only myself and one other. No back-filling of positions for management, and expense budget was razor thin to the point that staff operations were usually 1 to 2 people per department doing all of the work for EVS, Front Desk, Sales, Membership, and Kids Care. My responsibilities included the following on any given week: 5 Hours of PT Sessions -3 Group Ex Classes -5 Sports Performance Classes -5+ Assessments completed myself -1-2 Demo Classes per week, 1-2 boot camps per week, -Call All New Members & Prospects (approx 100-120 per month) (4-7 calls per person until scheduled or not interested or no response). -Generate $6000-10,000 per month in training/assessment sales. -3 Interviews Scheduled per Week; Screen all applicants; hire 1 staff per month Train New Hires and assist in all areas of department onboarding (all departments) Inconsistent and unprepared meetings regurgitating data and metrics to different parties. Regular meetings with staff business plans and staff development. Maintain 3 calendars that do not "marry" and communicate with each other demanded to be upkept for each party wanting to review. Daily reports; and administrative duties Daily EVS and housekeeping to fold towels, restock locker room, clean (approximately 1-2 hours each day and sometimes more when lacking staffing for daily effective operations). Pulling teeth and difficult to check-in have regular meetings with upper management near the end, and Recruiter among other meetings with staff. Daily kids zone, tours, front desk check-ins, and membership sales when there was no staff to fill the holes in scheduling (1-2 hours a day and often more when there was no employees scheduled to fill this shift). Worked 70 hour weeks, 10-12 hour days, each hour of day blocked off by another task, project, or KPI and without regard for when mentioned above short-staffing occured and had zero support near the back half of the year. Most days I never had time to eat lunch let alone use the bathroom without being summoned or called to another area struggling that day. Overall, incredibly unprofessional management practices by several large egos all "buddy" with each other but without accountability from anyone outside the site. They talked terribly about one another behind each other's back but would be nice to their faces but lie and sabotage otherwise, and put me in the middle. Once half the management left, it was revealed that it was not lack of accountability from upper management but a lack of caring for the people and only for what the client-site can be fed as a lie, and make the most money, everyone else was dispensable despite EXOS message of "work-life balance, self-development, and integrity." Ultimately left because of lack of support, lack of communication and clear direction, working in a hostile workplace, shady business practice, and an overhaul of so much work in any given day all days of the week, that my health began to suffer physically and mentally. I wish I had never known the managers I had to work with or had ever taken the job in the first place.
