Pros

Overall pretty happy with this company. Career progression gets knocked on in other reviews but this has been the clearest I’ve seen in my career so I’m not complaining. Very open to process and technical changes engineering-wise, being recognized for my contributions, I work with great people both in and outside of my direct team, and salary is on the higher end for Canada. Less so vs US due to our dollar but I’m pretty comfortable. Although with the recent negative reviews I can see that my positive experience may be unique to my team and who I have the privilege to work with. The compensation again is comfortable for myself but I have heard from many of my peers that they’re on the lower side which is unfortunate so I’m sure there is truth to those complaints.

Cons

Nothing unique to this company really: tech debt which we’re all putting in the work to fix, some teams difficult to work with if you’re putting in work in their code base, and noticeable scope creep. This fortunately doesn’t always lead to overtime but does sometimes hurt committed deliverables which can lead to overtime. I myself normally had to do 1-2 OT days of maybe 2-3 hours per month so luckily it’s not frequent and very little extra time.

Pros

- Flexible working and mostly good people. - Many people who work there have worked in emergency services roles, so they understand the products and customers well.

Cons

- Can't trust management and can't speak true feelings for fear of being fired for saying something they didn't like hearing. - Absolutely zero care for working parents with young children - they are getting rid of them all (mostly the moms) and only hiring people with no kids, or the few that do have kids are teenage and up, which has been blatantly obvious. Guessing it's because older kids don't require their parents much, so they are never taken away from work. - Getting rid of so many people with no interim plans, causing massive workloads and unknown processes for those that were "safe." - Pay is low. - There is no clear direction of the company, only layoffs, broken products, upset customers, and unrealistic goals. - Used to be a great place to work, but upper management changes have ultimately caused things to go downhill fast.
