Pros

Large company with a small company feel. Due to decentralized structure, you work down the hall from folks doing all sorts of different jobs for the same project. Leads to high collaboration and teamwork.

Cons

Hiring structure, pay raises, promotions can ambiguous and non-consistent. Often times outside hires are paid more than their inside counterparts.

Pros

The benefits were excellent, including medical, dental, and vision coverage. When I was hired in 2010, PTO was determined by a combination of age and tenure. By the time I left in December 2016, I had accumulated about five weeks of vacation.

Cons

In 2017, upper management decided to close the Tyler, TX division, which had been operating for at least 17 years. I had planned to retire from EOG, but that decision changed everything. I was given the choice to relocate or be laid off. Because I could not afford the cost of moving, I was laid off, which had a significant negative impact on my life. It took me more than two years to find another job in the oil and gas industry in Tyler, TX.
