Pros
Working within a joint venture, with my parent company being Kier Group, provided an engaging and varied role. The work was interesting and enjoyable on a day to day basis.
Pay was relatively fair for the level of responsibility. Management was supportive and effective, and the wider team was professional and easy to work with.
Safety standards on site were strong, and I consistently felt safe at work. Although the hours on site were long, the overall experience and the people made it worthwhile.
Cons
Career progression was difficult due to the corporate structure and budget constraints. Opportunities for promotion and pay increases were limited.
I often took on responsibilities beyond my role, but progressing required navigating multiple layers of approval, which was slow and challenging.
In the end, it was more practical to move to another company than to progress internally.
