Pros

Passionate Frontline Staff: The front-line staff—including Registered Dietitians (RDs), Therapists, and Nurses—are clearly passionate about patient care. They are dedicated, knowledgeable, and genuinely care about their patients’ well-being. Despite the dysfunction at the leadership level, these staff members strive to prioritize patient safety to the best of their ability within the system. Their commitment to patients is truly commendable.

Cons

I can’t stress this enough—DO NOT WORK HERE. My experience at EDCare was nothing short of a professional nightmare. If you value your medical license, your career, and your integrity, stay far away from this place. Below is a breakdown of why: Complete Undermining of Medical Professionals EDCare is a place where your medical judgment and expertise will be questioned daily, not by colleagues in your field, but by people with no medical qualifications whatsoever. The leadership team, particularly the Clinical Director, a Licensed Practical Counselor, routinely interferes with medical and psychiatric decision-making, despite having ZERO medical or psychiatric education or experience. This creates a toxic and frustrating environment where clinical decisions that directly affect patient care are constantly undermined. The worst part? This is encouraged and enforced by management (namely the COO who does not have a medical or clinical background), creating a climate where decisions are made based on personal opinion, not evidence-based practice. If you have any semblance of professional integrity, you’ll be constantly battling to preserve your license here. Lack of Qualified Medical Leadership The revolving door of medical staff at EDCare speaks volumes about the toxic culture. In my one-year tenure, the Medical Director, all psychiatry providers, the Director of Nutrition, and multiple dietitians resigned or left due to the systemic issues. The sheer fact that no one sticks around here is a huge red flag. If a company cannot retain experienced medical professionals, it's clear they don't care about quality care—just filling the census. Leadership’s Complete Disregard for Patient Safety The Clinical Director’s involvement in medical and psychiatric decisions, without any qualifications in those fields, leads to dangerous compromises in patient care. You’ll be pressured to admit patients who are not medically appropriate for the level of care offered, all in the name of meeting financial goals. Worse, patient care is often jeopardized when financial considerations outweigh medical necessity. This unethical approach puts both patients and staff in an impossible situation. No patient should ever be put at risk for the sake of revenue generation. Concerns Around Billing and Privacy Practices During my time at EDCare, I noticed several practices that seemed to disregard standard procedures, especially concerning billing and patient privacy. I was uncomfortable with situations that involved billing discrepancies and the potential mishandling of sensitive patient information, which could leave the organization vulnerable to compliance issues. While I can't speak to the full extent of these concerns, it’s clear that there are practices in place that could pose risks to both staff and patients. A Culture of Disrespect The Clinical Director’s public questioning of medical decisions in front of peers and staff is not only unprofessional—it’s actively damaging. Publicly undermining your team’s expertise fosters an environment of distrust and discourages any kind of productive collaboration. This culture of disrespect made it almost impossible to effectively do my job. Conclusion: If you're considering working here, I beg you to think critically. The high turnover rate, constant interference with medical practice, and leadership that puts financial goals above patient care should be huge warning signs. I deeply regret my time at EDCare, and I can only hope that others read this review and avoid the same fate. Your medical license, your ethics, and your career are far too valuable to risk here. Avoid at all costs.

EDCare Response

At EDCare, we are proud of the exceptional care our team delivers and the collaborative, patient-centered environment we have cultivated. While we welcome feedback, the claims in this review are both inaccurate and misrepresentative of our organization. Medical and psychiatric decisions at EDCare are made exclusively by licensed and qualified professionals. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that evidence-based practices and the expertise of our medical and clinical teams inform all clinical decisions. Any suggestion that these processes are compromised is unequivocally false. We also reject the suggestion that patient safety is ever compromised for financial considerations. Our organization adheres to strict compliance standards and prioritizes ethical decision-making and patient care above all else. This commitment was recently reaffirmed through our successful Joint Commission accreditation, during which we met rigorous standards for quality care, compliance, and patient safety. This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team. While it’s unfortunate that this former employee’s experience did not align with our values, their account does not reflect the professionalism and expertise of our staff and leadership, the people who choose to make EDCare their workplace of choice. We remain confident in the strength of our team and leadership and our mission to provide the highest level of care to those we serve.
