Relatively small classes, ability to adapt classes to students needs

Classes would have students of a wide range of skills so much so that a teacher would be required to simultaneously keep student A from drowning while critiquing student B's butterfly and giving them a workout. Class organization was primarily done by age prior to the course beginning. They hire incompetent instructors, so you end up having to reteach a student how to do something properly.
