Pros

You get to make a positive, lifelong impact on teenagers and adults in the community. The company teaches you everything you need to know for lessons. Relatively small amount of cleaning/maintenance work. Generally good workplace environment! Professional, courteous, and friendly. Most parent/student complaints go to management instead of straight to you. Management filters complaints to find constructive criticism to help you succeed.

Cons

Your shift will probably never end on time. Paperwork can take time to get used to. Your breaks won't happen, and your lunch won't be actually thirty minutes unless you get lucky or short students. You will have to deal with exhausting students and worse parents. Schedule varies, but you'll have to work evenings and at least one weekend day a week. Somewhat more concerned with making lessons than employee safety/security. Have been sent out in vehicles with faulty equipment (front and rear-facing dash cams that don't work).

Pros

some flexibility of hours but you will work mostly week nights, weekends and summer days when students are available to drive

Cons

The drive instructors are the most important people to the organization in terms of driving revenue yet the company treats them like outsiders. Partially because they are always out doing drives. Everyone will be your boss, and logistics are unreasonable. The drives have to be 2 hours (by the state) They schedule the lessons back to back with no time in between.Yet the state of CO says there has to be 3-5 minutes between drives and you will have to also give a brief report, use the restroom and meet your next student but some how the drive must be a full two hours. Also in the 9 years I was there instructor safety was never mentioned or brought up about the job. You can literally be killed being a drive instructor. not sure they cared.
