Pros

Pretty much anybody become a manager at dollartree, which means most of your managers are incompetent.

Cons

Everyone that I worked with had a lot of issues with the company, except for some of the managers. It seemed like when the managers were working, most of the time they would be hiding in the back. They really didn't care about the people up front that you had to deal with. It was so disorganized and the store was always filthy. It really didn't matter how much one vacuumed because everything stuck to the floor. There was so much dust in the store that I actually had problems with my asthma. The manager would only hire females, which was annoying because of the cattiness. The manager would call me randomly wanting me to come in when I was supposed to be off and he had an issue if someone wasn't able to come in. At nights there is only one cashier and one manager working which turns chaotic (especially on weekends) when the managers don't want to do their jobs. You are stuck with balloon orders, customers at the register, back shop, vacuuming, and trying to make the shelves look nice. You only get a 10 minute break for a 5 hour shift and you don't even get paid for that. As an employee, you are not allowed to buy drinks from the store at 7 pm which is ridiculous. I could go on and on, basically, this is a job that you take while you are looking for another one.

Pros

I enjoyed working at Dollar Tree because it allowed me to lead a team, help develop associates, and make a difference in my store. I liked the fast-paced environment and the variety of challenges that came with running daily operations. The experience helped me grow as a manager, strengthen my problem-solving skills, and build great relationships with both my team and customers.

Cons

The biggest challenges were limited staffing, heavy workloads, and a lack of support from the district level when issues arose. PTO requests were often denied due to business needs, which made it difficult to achieve a good work-life balance. While these challenges could be frustrating at times.
