Pros
Good salary and pension. Potentially good bonuses.
Cons
Lots of people haven't had pay rises in over 6 yrs. I did twice so it's not a personal gripe. Favoritism is rife. Too many people with not the right experience promoted over more appropriate colleagues, at all levels. E.g, there were two internal candidates for global head of BLAFC - one was organized, knowledgeable, approachable and empowered her team. The other is disorganized, is blatant in his favoritism, divide & conquer approach amongst his own team, has no understanding of the regulations and thinks transparency is a bad thing. They chose him over her. The financial crime framework has been under US and UK regulatory scrutiny for over a decade and it's still a mess. Everyone is so overworked that they run around like headless birds trying to manage the workload. High turnover of global head of Anti-Financial Crime says it all.
