Pros

The people are great and down to earth. Very few "hot shot" types. Great culture and good office spaces. Supports staff in filling internal vacancies and changing roles.

Cons

Paralegal salary is based entirely on award rates. Does not negotiate at all and does not care if employees are doing it tough with the cost of living - basically responds with "it is what it is". Superannuation incorporated into the salary package, so won't benefit from the super guarantee increases to 12.5% (actually end up with less pay because the super increase gets absorbed by your take-home), which is tough given how low award rates are versus job strain/responsibilities these days. We need more take-home pay now, not take-home pay being locked up into accounts we can't touch until we retire. Company slow to hire admin staff again after the COVID wipe-out. 1:7 ratio of admin to solicitors means a lot of conflict in resourcing and existing admins required to take on additional responsibilities/job titles, which isn't remunerated for appropriately given reliance on award rates.

Pros

Everybody there cared about working together, no ambushing, The pay was great, hours and workload manageable, I loved this firm and would go back in a heartbeat! Shout out to IT and the Assistants - their cooperation is on the next level of the "united means success" the firm enjoys.

Cons

I didn't experience or hear about any in my 5 months there, and I was on-site 4-5 days a week. I only left because I needed to care for my Covid-stricken only child.
